Construction Estimator Commercial
We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator (Commercial) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, project management, and effective negotiation skills to collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors. The Construction Estimator will play a pivotal role in project planning, budgeting, and bid preparation to support the successful execution of our commercial construction initiatives.
Duties
- Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to accurately assess scope of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Perform quantity take-offs and analyze material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals including pricing strategies and cost control measures.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive prices while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Monitor project budgets during the bidding process and provide recommendations for cost savings or adjustments.
- Assist in contract negotiations and review contractual obligations related to project scope and costs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and new estimating tools or techniques.
- Support project management teams during the construction phase by providing cost analysis and change order evaluations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating within the commercial sector; prior construction site experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard tools.
- Strong understanding of construction management, contracts, cost control, and pricing strategies.
- Excellent negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Solid knowledge of project management principles related to construction projects.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
- Effective communication skills to present estimates clearly and negotiate terms confidently.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience.
