There's a new way to submit permit applications for residential projects in Asheville- online! Learn about recent improvements to the City of Asheville's residential permitting process for new single family homes, duplexes, ADUs and accessory structures, and residential remodel, repair, and re-roofing projects, tour the new online residential application, and hear about new requirements and best practices for submitting better applications. DSD will show you how to use the updated Development Portal to pay fees, track a permit's status, and pick up plan review comments, approved plans, and issued permits for residential projects online- no need to wait in the lobby!

Ben Woody is the Development Services Director for the City of Asheville. Mr. Woody has more than 20 years of experience working in local government. Before coming to Asheville, he worked for the City of Greensboro and Currituck County on the North Carolina Outer Banks. Mr. Woody is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He enjoys looking for creative ways to improve the quality, accessibility, and customer experience of local government, and when not doing that, spending time with his family.
