Construction Trainer
Position Title: Construction Trainer
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Position Summary
The Construction Trainer will deliver hands-on instruction in construction skills and industry-recognized safety practices to participants. This position will be responsible for implementing a skills-based curriculum aligned with industry standards and providing supervision on work sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with development of and deliver training curriculum in core construction skills and safety practices.
- Attain and/or maintain necessary credentials to provide training and certifications to participants (i.e. OSHA 500/510, FA/CPR, HBI-PACT Core, etc.).
- Supervise and mentor participants in hands-on construction projects, ensuring quality workmanship and safety compliance on all worksites.
- Conduct skills assessments to monitor participant progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain all necessary training records, attendance sheets, and certification documentation.
- Collaborate with team and staff to support participant success and address any barriers to learning or work site engagement.
- Recruit guest instructors, as needed, to expand instruction topics based on participant interests and industry demand.
- Develop partnerships with local employers, unions, and trade organizations to inform curriculum and align training with industry demand.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with any grant reporting requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe classroom/lab with necessary equipment and materials, including maintaining an up-to-date inventory.
- Support participants in developing soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and professionalism in a job site environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years documented professional experience in the construction industry.
- Prior experience as a trainer, instructor, or supervisor in a construction-related setting.
- OSHA 500/510 and FA/CPR trainer certifications or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire.
- Ability to instruct and mentor individuals with varying levels of construction experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- HBI-PACT Certified Instructor status or willingness to obtain.
- Experience training or mentoring youth or adults facing barriers to employment.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Familiarity with workforce development programs or non-profit training environments.
- Experience working on community-based construction or disaster recovery projects.
Pay: $75,000.00 per year
